About The Opportunity
The OPOR Training Lead, Education & Learning has a critical role in the success of this complex, multi-organizational clinical transformation initiative. Their provision of high quality, empowering education delivery, grounded in their knowledge of adult learning, clinical expertise and/or health education experience, educational planning, design and delivery, and education evaluation will ensure that users of the new clinical information system will meet user competency targets and will be safe and efficient users of the system.
The OPOR Training Lead, Education & Learning will be responsible for the delivery and evaluation of education and training resources to users of the OPOR information system. The OPOR Training Lead, Education & Learning delivers in class training across the province according to the phased Go Live schedule, tracks user training completion against registration lists, and reports formative and summative evaluations. The OPOR Training Lead, Education & Learning may deliver training for multiple types of users, such as nurses, clerks, lab personnel, etc.
Evaluation of user competency will also be an important component of the scope of work and activities.
The OPOR Training Lead, Education & Learning will be required to complete the Train-the-Trainer (TTT) program provided by the vendor as well as participate in various OPOR program activities that will support the trainers’ knowledge of the OPOR system.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in a clinical discipline or health-related field required
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a clinical environment or health related-role required
- Minimum 3 years experience in delivering technology-focused training in clinical environments
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the delivery of evidence-based education in a clinical setting.
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in adult learning methodologies and best practices
- Broad knowledge and experience with clinical information systems
- Experience in delivering and evaluating educational programs to healthcare learners
- Broad knowledge of the applicable standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
- Broad knowledge of clinical process, workflows, clinical services delivery and patient/client satisfaction determinants.
- Demonstrated health informatics expertise, with the ability to apply systems and critical thinking.
- Demonstrates creative, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to facilitate discussion, achieve consensus, resolve conflict, achieve desired outcomes and address potential barriers to success.
- Demonstrated ability to create and execute plans and ensure timelines are met while working with a variety of stakeholders.
About You Continued
- Exercises initiative, self-direction and problem-solving abilities to identity gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize current computer applications (Microsoft Office, etc.) and computerized health care application(s).
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Experience to deliver training in learner-centric approach.
- Experience in a complex health care organizational environment considered an asset.
- Proficient knowledge of healthcare industry required; familiarity with clinical and administrative hospital functions and departments preferred.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines
- Clearly communicates the Nova Scotia Health and IWK vision, mission and values.
- Experience in working with patient care leaders and a variety of healthcare learners.
- Ability to demonstrate adult education, learner support skills, and ability to escalate and contribute to resolving issues accordingly.
- Proficient with MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Power-Point
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- 22 Long-assignment, Full-time Positions; 75 Hours Biweekly
- Approximately 24 months (assignment length subject to change)
Compensation and Incentives
$36.33 - $45.42 Hourly
