At the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, we work to provide Apprenticeship training leading to Certification in the Skilled Trades for all Nova Scotians. We have offices throughout Nova Scotia in Halifax, Bridgewater, Kentville, Yarmouth, Truro, Port Hawkesbury, New Glasgow and Sydney.
About Our Opportunity
As the Industry Training Consultant, you will administer the programs and services of the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, carrying out the activities necessary to effectively fulfil the legislative obligations of the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act and mandate of the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications System as articulated in the Agency’s Operating charter.
By engaging employers and providing guidance and support to both employers and apprentices, you will help build knowledge and awareness of the services provided by the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, promoting apprenticeship training as a viable post-secondary pathway and career option.
As the Industry Training Consultant, you will report to the Manager, Programs.
Primary Accountabilities
- Responsible for class intakes
- Implementing and monitoring the policies and procedures of the Agency
- Performing recognition of prior learning (RPL) assessments, trade qualification assessments and approvals
- Verifying individuals’ eligibility for federal and provincial grants as well as awards
- Participating in, or as a resource for, invigilating exams
- Serving on various projects, task teams and committees
Qualifications And Experience
This may be the right opportunity for you if you have an undergraduate degree plus 5 years of related experience or an acceptable combination of training and experience.
You are an exceptional communicator (verbal and written) who is decisive with sound analytical and negotiation skills. You have previous experience working independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, demonstrating sound judgement and discretion. You value a diverse and inclusive workplace and are proficient using Microsoft office programs and have experience working in a computerized environment.
Assets For This Position Include
- Working knowledge and understanding of legislation, policies, procedures and directives governing the Apprenticeship System
- Have a Certificate of Qualification in a designated trade
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions
- Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day
- May be required to work overtime on occasion
Additional Information
This is a TERM employment opportunity with anticipated end date of
December 31, 2026. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.
Must have own vehicle and a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.

Pay Grade: PR 13
Salary Range: $2,543.38 - $3,091.70 Bi-Weekly
