Our services include emergency food transitional housing and education for homeless and street-involved youth; hospice palliative care; community mental health programs; and supportive housing programs. This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - Women's Services - Dorothy Day How You Will Make an Impact The Dorothy Day Supportive Housing program provides low-barrier permanent supportive housing to cis women, trans and non-binary individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness in the community. The program offers a hospitable and respectful environment for people who face significant personal and structural barriers to accessing and maintaining housing. Commitment to the provision of cultural safety and Trans/Gender positive space is prioritized. Dorothy Day operates within a trauma-informed, feminist, anti-racist/anti-oppressive framework and is firmly rooted in harm reduction principles. The program assistant will work in a residential setting serving individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. The program assistant responsibilities may include: Co-ordinate move in dates, program fee and rent payments, follow up on late payments and arrears. Provide front desk coverage- answering phones, doors, greeting visitors and clients. Provide information around general program inquires. Compile and complete data entry/ maintain data entry databases. Maintain, order and procure program inventory and supplies. Follow up with maintenance, work orders and pest control. Assist with all aspects of program operations. Preserve the dignity of all persons by communicating in a calm, welcoming and professional manner. What You'll Bring to Our Team Minimum of 1-year related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Post-secondary education is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and strong written and oral communication is required. Time management skills and ability to work independently is required. Must be comfortable answering phones and communicating directly with service users. Understand and be comfortable working from a person-centered, trauma-informed approach. Experience with HIFIS or EMHware database is an asset. Fluency in a 2nd language is an asset. CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required.
