Food and Beverage Manager
Job Description
Hyatt Place Moncton is looking to hire a Food and Beverage Supervisor to join the team!
The Food and Beverage Supervisor oversees all aspects of the food and beverage operations within the hotel, including catering set-ups, teardowns, and service as well as overseeing the bar and food service in the Placery outlet.
Duties:
- Approach all encounters with guests and colleagues in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Maintain constant communication with guests and respond appropriately to ensure guest satisfaction
- Remain alert of complaints and or/unsatisfied guests and respond appropriately to ensure guest satisfaction
- Coordinate with other departments to arrange for the delivery of requested services
- Maintain constant contact with catering and kitchen staff to ensure complete effective communication between food production and food service
- Ensure all functions are set and staff is prepared and organized before the required time on BEO
- Inspect table place settings, including table linen, china, glass, silverware and condiments for correct placement and ensure that each element is clean, undamaged, and attractive
- Ensure proper setting of buffet tables and other food service tables
- Arrange for and ensure a proper sequence of service for each event
- Supervise clearing and post-function cleanup and garbage removal
- Maintain clean and orderly back areas, pre-function areas and storage areas as well as the kitchen
- Assure that all china, glassware, silverware, linen, etc. are returned to their proper location after each event. The Bar and liquor are counted and recorded and put away properly
- Supervise the handling, storage, and security of all catering and outlet services, equipment and d̩cor
- Assist with staff training programs. Follow all Health and Safety protocols as outlined for the food and beverage areas
- Conduct communication briefings before functions as well as the outlet to build rapport and ensure associates are well informed
- Review scheduling and labour needs to meet the guest needs as well as maximize efficiency in catering, kitchen and outlet
- Work with line cooks to ensure appropriate inventories are stocked including food (breakfast offering), non-food and beverages used in all food and beverage areas
- Work with the Events/Sales Manager(s) to ensure the quality and accuracy of set-ups within all catering rooms
Qualifications:
- Previous banquet and restaurant service experience is a MUST
- Previous supervisory experience a strong asset
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer proficiency: email, MS Excel, Word, Outlook and Shift 7
- Working knowledge of point of sale and timekeeping system
- Cash handling abilities; basic math skills including significant number manipulation
- Ability to work a variable work schedule (including evenings and weekends, as required), depending upon events and business requirements
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Must have a flexible schedule, be highly motivated and quality driven
- Detail oriented yet able to excel while multi-tasking
- Able to accept responsibilities and lead by example
- Team player
- Able to carry/pick up to 50 lbs
