We are actively seeking a dedicated and strategic individual to join our team as a Government Relations Advisor. This role will play a crucial part in advancing our institution's priorities and perspectives at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels of government. Reporting to the Director, College and Public Relations, the Government Relations Advisor will be an integral member of a dynamic team focused on promoting our strategic goals and perspectives to government stakeholders. They will be responsible for cultivating relationships with officials across all levels of government to advance the College's strategic priorities and raise its visibility. Additionally, they will develop strategic plans that align the interests of the College with government priorities, facilitating advocacy and engagement efforts to secure opportunities to grow RRC Polytech and advance the institutions strategic priorities. R E Q U I R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S Degree in communications, political science or public administration; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Several years of relevant, professional experience working with government or in similar government relations, community engagement, or communication and public affairs roles. Experience developing briefing notes, budget submissions, funding proposals and presentations to government Collaborative team player with the capacity to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Strong understanding of government structures and processes at municipal, provincial, and federal levels. Strategic thinker capable of aligning College priorities with government agendas to achieve shared goals. Detail-oriented, self starter with excellent organizational, event planning and project management abilities. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to respond diplomatically to both internal and external inquiries. Excellent political acumen with a track record of building positive relationships with media, politicians, senior staff, community leaders, decision makers, and stakeholders Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills for various types of media – print, email, digital, social media, etc. - with an eye for detail. Results-oriented with high expectations for quality. Understands and models the importance of celebrating success, both internally and externally. Strong ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in dealing with confidential and/or controversial College and government matters. Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement A S S E T S Experience working in Manitoba’s post-secondary sector with an emphasis on its public college system. Knowledge of the education and research landscape is a strong asset.
