What You’ll Be Doing
As a Credit Writer, you will join the CIBC Commercial Banking team which provides integrated financial solutions to address virtually every business requirement at every stage of a company’s development and operation, from enhancing cash flow, to financing growth, expanding internationally, addressing specialized business needs, and ultimately developing a business transition plan. In this role, you will be reporting to a Director and Team Leader and will be responsible for assisting the Atlantic Market write and maintain credits to support our commercial book where required.

How You’ll Succeed
  • Credit Management – Assist Commercial Banking Relationship Managers and Team Leaders in the completion of credit applications in both Independent business and Mid Market.
  • Portfolio Management – As required, manage a portfolio of loan accounts while ensuring reporting requirements are met, financial covenant tests are completed, and comprehensive credit reviews are prepared and submitted to the risk group.
  • Customer Relations – You may be required from time to time to deal directly with clients as part of the CIBC deal team to help gather information or work with clients to execute on credit and non-credit related products.
Who You Are
  • You can demonstrate experience in reading, interpreting and analyzing financial statements as well as underwriting credits. You have strong knowledge of the main credit principles for commercial lending and risk rating methodology. It’s an asset if you can demonstrate knowledge of Commercial Banking underwriting principals as well as the full spectrum of products and services available to companies.
  • You have a degree/diploma in Business, Economics or relevant work experience may also be considered.
  • You're digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You have strong proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • You know that details matter. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making and you are able to find solutions through strategic thinking.
