Production Employee – Door Shop Reporting to the Door Shop Supervisor and working alongside other Shop Employees, the Door Shop Employee is responsible for assisting in the fabrication of all manufactured exterior doors. The position performs varying tasks including building, assembling, verifying factory items, quality checks, cutting, installing door lites, machine maintenance, fabricating custom doors while ensuring that the manufactured product meets or exceeds company standards. It operates a variety of tools and equipment in a shop while maintaining a safe, clean, and respectful work environment, and performs other related duties. Key responsibilities · Reading and interpreting computer-aided drawings and plans. · Reading and using a tape measure to measure doors, door lites and cutouts and/or door frames in accurate manner. · Cutting and manufacturing doorframes. · Sanding, cutting, selecting and inspecting of wood used for door assembly. · Safely operating hand, power and machine tools to drill, cut and assemble door frames. · Completing paperwork, including job sheets and quality assurance documents. · Maintains a clean and safe working environment Requirements · There is no formal certification required, although any certifications in construction, wood working or as a General Labourer are considered an asset. Experience handling tools and equipment in a safe manner, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Mechanical aptitude would be an asset. Experience in operating a forklift is desirable. · Knowledge and awareness of safety regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions · Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) · Good hand-eye coordination and good motor skills · Good communication skills in English · Demonstrate sound work ethics · Attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive work · Ability to operate and handle tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner, · Ability to read and use a tape measure · Ability to read and interpret computer-aided drawings and plans · Ability to follow instructions · Ability to accept constructive criticism and work well under pressure · Willing and able to lift material weighing up to 50 lbs.
