We Are Hiring For
User Access Management Technical Architect
The technical architect will be responsible to learn the current environment and existing processes for provisioning access into the NS Health & IWK environments. Additionally, they will need to be the driving force on shaping the user access processes into automated streams of work. They will be responsible to speak on behalf of the User Access team for process improvement. As well they will liaison with partners in NS Health, IWK and NS Government to ensure all access requirements are investigated and documented relating to access to the health care environment. They would be required to follow best practice and ensure other responsible teams are engaged in the decision-making process. They will speak to User Access requirements while taking into consideration any improvements of processes encompass necessary legacy requirements.
Device Management Technical Architect
The Technical Architect is responsible for providing expert technical advice and support in the NS Health & IWK environments. Responsibilities include the resolution of technical problems related to enterprise device management hardware, infrastructure, to ensure effective and efficient availability, deployment, and maintenance within the End User Compute area. The ideal candidate must have proven capability in understanding business requirements, leading or participating in service strategy and architectural initiatives to meet business requirements. The Technical Architect will be responsible for researching, standardizing, planning both short- and long-term solutions, securely and efficiently introducing new technologies, fostering collaboration, and driving process and service enhancements.
The Technical Architect Role
As a Technical Architect with CSDS, you will contribute to a 24/7 operational environment, providing critical digital services for government and health care sectors. Your support will impact various government departments, agencies, boards, commissions, and offices, as well as Nova Scotia Health and the IWK. You will lead and participate in projects and initiatives that enhance the lives of Nova Scotia citizens, making a significant difference.
You will devise innovative solutions for complex business problems by understanding client requirements and system capabilities. As a Tier 3 support, you will directly assist clients with intricate issues and represent the organization. Your ability to communicate technical solutions using non-technical, business language will be essential.
Thriving on technical challenges, you will ensure the effective availability, deployment, and maintenance of digital solutions for the Government of Nova Scotia, meeting or exceeding customer service standards. You will be responsible for the availability and security of digital solutions in your portfolio and for refining our processes to maintain consistent service levels with a focus on continual service improvement.
As a team lead and mentor within a team of specialists and analysts, you will foster effective, collaborative relationships with clients, team members, peers, colleagues, and management, characterized by mutual trust and respect.
What Will You Be Doing
Responsibilities
As a Technical Architect, you will be responsible to:
- Lead teams supporting daily administration, monitoring, and maintenance of digital solutions and infrastructure.
- Oversee deployment and maintenance of digital solutions, exceeding client expectations.
- Provide specialized technical services for clients.
- Participate in on-call rotation.
- Offer Tier 3 support and problem resolution to team members and clients.
- Maintain hardware, software, and resolve incidents.
- Support ITIL Service Support processes for consistent service levels.
- Deliver exceptional client service within established standards.
- Lead project teams and provide subject matter expertise on broader projects.
- Understand client priorities and their impact when digital services are not functioning.
- Maintain digital systems and infrastructure, ensuring consistent connectivity and accessibility.
- Provide remote and onsite Tier 3 support for hardware, software, and printers.
- Advise the business and service leadership teams on key architectural decisions, including the adoption of new technologies through the evaluation/assessment of new technologies, mapping those to the business requirements and making recommendations on implementation approaches and training requirements.
- Work on tickets (incidents, service requests, change requests, problems, etc.)
- Implement corrective actions to ensure timely resolution of the technical issues.
- Take ownership of operational aspects, including but not limited to investigating issues, analyzing evidence, documenting recommendations with rationale, mapping processes, creating procedures and standards, coordinating efforts, and communicating thoroughly and efficiently.
- Consistently deliver on accountabilities, and support clients, peers, management and leadership.
- Coach and lead teammates and peers on new technologies and processes.
- Help create a culture of humility, learning, collaboration, ownership and results.
- Show continuous learning and knowledge update by completing or renewing agreed technical certification(s) every year as part of performance metrics.
As a Device Management Technical Architect, you will also be responsible to:
- Design, deploy, and maintain security solutions related to the NS Health & IWK end point environment.
- Work with customers, business, and technology teams to drive endpoint initiatives through the project lifecycle stages.
- Ensure deployment, maintenance, security, availability, performance, improvement, and enhancement of the endpoint infrastructure.
- Introduce new technologies such as AI and Microsoft Defender for Endpoints into a health care environment.
- Lead a team of peers with standardized approaches to better enable health care technologies.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure and End User Compute staff.
- Design workflows for complex medical devices for centralized and secure management on the network.
- Accountable for designs made in a high-pressure environment.
- Develop a strategy to integrate the MECM environment into Intune.
Qualifications And Skills
To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience, or graduation from a recognized Information Technology program, plus 5 years and 6 months experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience.
You Will Have The Following Skills And Experience
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals (MS-900) or Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900)
- Extensive experience in complex enterprise environments and managing infrastructure projects/teams.
- Proficiency in various computing technologies (e.g., desktop software, operating systems, device/print management systems, Microsoft technologies like M365, Exchange, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and implementing improvement opportunities.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing business priorities.
- Coaching and mentoring staff on new processes and technologies.
- Experience working in a health care or public sector environment.
- Experience in on-premises and cloud-based environments, supporting large, mission-critical 24x7x365 environments.
- Knowledge of project management methodology, ITIL processes, and IT and Security policies and procedures in Government.

- Decision making responsibilities for development and ongoing management of high-quality digital support services.
- Leading continual service improvement initiatives by leveraging internet-era practices and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve business/policy outcomes.
