Supervised Family Visitation Workers allow children and youth in foster care the opportunity to have visitation with their families in a safe environment. In addition to providing observation and safety, it is the workers' role to monitor conditions and behaviors and complete detailed reports. These reports are key to determining if families can be reunified and are often used in court. This role requires knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and social services. Candidates must have strong interpersonal and written communication skills, good decision-making skills, objectivity, and provide a high level of confidentiality of all client information.
Because visits are scheduled to fit children's and families' schedules, Supervised Family Visitation Workers must be flexible, the work consists of short shifts with a mixture of days, evenings, and weekends (minimum of 3 hours, no overnights or 24-hour shifts). If travel with the children is required for the visit, transportation will be arranged by taxi and covered by the program. Additionally, all Supervised Visitation Workers are compensated for their report writing time. Training is provided to prepare you for the role and there is on-call support during all the visitation times.
What you'll bring?
Experience in a related field working with children and youth, Record of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check, First Aid Certificate, and a Medical Certificate indicating good health (negative TB test, up-to-date immunization record).
Salary is $17.05 per hour as per the collective agreement
This is a unionized position with NL Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE)
