Job Description
Scope of Position: Souls Harbour Mobile Mission provides mobile outreach services to vulnerable community members in need of assistance and support. This mobile ministry allows us to reach people exactly where they are, rather than requiring them to come to us. Our Mobile Mission Team will provide non emergency crisis intervention to those in need as well as helping people living on the streets access the services they need.
Organizational Relationships & Supervision:
Location of Position: This is a mobile position, but staff will report to Mission Mart, 265 Susie Lake Cres, at the start of each shift.
Reports to: Mobile Mission Team Lead
Authority: Responsible for driving the Mobile Mission vehicle around the city of Halifax.
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
- Class 4 Nova Scotia Driver’s License with clean driving abstract and 5 years accident free (Souls Harbour will pay for additional training if needed)
- First Aid and Non Violent Crisis Intervention training required (Souls Harbour will pay for additional training if needed)
- Must be willing to abide by the SHRM doctrinal and mission statement
- Must abide by SHRM policies and procedures
- Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check required
Qualifications:
- High degree of competency in boundaries, assertiveness, accountability and maximizing opportunities.
- High level of care and compassion for culturally marginalized and underprivileged people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, full mobility.
- Excellent day and night vision and sharp sense of hearing.
- Capacity to adjust to rapid changes in temperature in and out of vehicle.
Expected Results:
Objectives: Tosupport vulnerable community members on a street level by helping meet their basic needs of food, clothing, transportation to shelter and/or other community resources.
Specific Duties:
- Drive within the City of Halifax to provide general support service to vulnerable community members.
- Provide bag lunches, basic hygiene items, and other essential items to those living on the streets or tent communities.
- Perform minor first aid, including Narcan if necessary
- Increase public awareness of Souls Harbour Rescue Mission and its work in the community.
- Ensure the Mobile Mission vehicle is washed, cleaned, fueled, stocked, maintained, and ready to be used and shown on a moment’s notice.
- Complete a daily report at the end of every shift.
- Complete necessary incident reports for every critical incident.
- Assist with additional tasks as required by Director of Residential Services.
Remuneration & Benefits:
Hours: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Mon-Fri
Full time: 40 hours per week

Salary: $45,760.00-$52,000.00 per year
