Job Description
The
Senior Maintenance Technician, based on Fogo Island, will perform a variety of functions to support daily operations While working in a fast-paced environment, the incumbent will demonstrate a positive can-do attitude.
General responsibilities:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Fogo Island Inn’s facility systems including but not limited to water treatment, boilers, refrigeration, humidifiers, hot tubs, HRV’s, hydronic solar system, laundry, and kitchen equipment.
- Ensuring the Inn’s preventive and corrective maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Ensuring spare parts inventory is ample and up to date.
- Fostering a strong ethic of good housekeeping providing a clean working environment amongst the Fogo Island Inn Maintenance team and contractors.
- Creating a culture of engagement and continuous learning, developing and mentoring junior staff, and working toward the operation’s goals and objectives.
- Updating Excel spreadsheets related to maintenance activity as required.
- Coordinating daily work activity and receiving maintenance tasks from the Maintenance Team Lead.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting the Fogo Island Inn’s Building Automation System software.
- Enforcing and following all applicable safety rules and procedures.
- Preparing operating procedures/SOP’s for system equipment and machinery.
- Maintaining a neatly dressed and groomed appearance. Ensuring uniform is in good order.
- Collaborating in a positive manner with all members of the team at the Inn.
- Willing to work weekends, shift work, and overtime as necessary.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate:
- 2nd or 3rd Class Power Engineering designation or equivalent from any Canadian Province.
- Valid Canadian driver’s license is an essential requirement.
- Accreditations in other trades considered an asset.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. This involves keeping all departments informed of any maintenance issues.
- Problem solving abilities.

- Positive, outgoing, ambitious, and energetic.
- Organized and strives for perfection.
- Team player with a roll up your sleeves approach to getting the job done.
