The
Regional Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing the maintenance program across the Inland Group of Companies for the region of Canada and Europe. Providing leadership and guidance in the administration of the maintenance program and ensuring compliance at each specific station. This position will support the planning, management and execution of maintenance activities with the objective of enhancing profitability, productivity and efficiency, meeting schedules and safety standards, and achieving corporate satisfaction objectives while providing personal leadership to create positive and productive relationships with all internal and external parties to maximize performance and results.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Actively promote adherence to and hold site employees accountable for leading safety and regulatory compliance with all local, provincial and federal rules and regulations;
- Abide by Inland Group’s procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations;
- Use engineering judgement in developing preventative / predictive maintenance programs, developing KPIs, and analyzing trends;
- Ensure the maintenance department is focused on achieving optimal equipment time-in-service, conduct regular equipment checks, maintain essential and up-to-date recordkeeping and demonstrate capability of utilizing maintenance equipment to maximum potential;
- Responsible for staffing, training and development of employees including performance management, team leadership, succession planning, conducting interviews, and employee relations;
- Mentor, coach and lead maintenance personnel and other assigned staff for further growth and development. Direct and manage assigned aspects of the maintenance department with ability to identify process improvement. Develop goals and objectives for the maintenance department and employees at multiple locations;
- Assure that your assigned locations are kept clean and safe through safety compliant methods as prescribed within safety and security procedures and programs. Audit and maintain that your stations' activities are conducted to guarantee the highest level of employee and equipment safety for protection of assets, sustaining regulatory compliance and support company mission, values and purpose;
- Ensure all reporting; record keeping, and communications are complete, accurate and timely as per company policies;
- Communicate frequently with the local Operations Managers on any maintenance issues and trends, equipment failures and/or employee issues. Review and make recommendations for preventing further occurrences. Report on the maintenance operations of the station. Also inform and provide any necessary documentation to the Manager of Maintenance on all equipment failures, parts and facility issues and new manufacturer/regulatory policies;
- Assist Manager of Maintenance and station General Managers in managing project tasks assigned to multiple locations, including follow up with teams to outline progress on assigned tasks, providing regular updates to Manager of Maintenance on any concerns or new information, and being an active participant for the successful completion of team projects
- Provide direct technical support when issues cannot be effectively managed at a local level;
- Effectively manage or delegate oversight of maintenance inventory at multiple locations, to include ordering and allocating necessary parts, tooling and equipment in anticipation of needs, while ensuring minimum stocking levels are defined and being met;
- Participate and exchange ideas in meetings and conference calls with the station general manager and maintenance personnel. Keep the Manager of Maintenance informed of new developments;
- Responsible for staying current on the maintenance record keeping and data program. This includes reading service bulletins, preparing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, managing inventory, follow through on warranty claims and calibration of tools;
Required Skills and Experience:
- Engineering degree or a combination of experience and post-secondary education
- 5+ years of maintenance management, technical or field engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- A broad range of mechanical experience, including but not limited to: Maintenance of deice trucks, GSE equipment, service vehicles, tractor/trailer, industrial processing equipment, industrial pumps and hoses, storage facilities, fuels, fluids, while observing facility requirements and safety/regulatory requirements;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to listen to others and value opinions, interpret information, promote and execute ideas, prepare reports and presentations, lead groups and provide foundation of open communication;
- Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel);
- Must be a team player with the ability to lead teams in meeting goals, identify areas of strength within each team, build and maintain work teams and relationships, and follow through, ensuring that deadlines are met, and success/failures are identified following each task assignment;
- Effective time management and organizational skills with ability to manipulate multiple projects and meet conflicting deadlines in a timely manner;
Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license;
- Valid passport with ability to acquire and maintain eligibility for international travel;
- Successful completion of required airport badging process and maintain eligibility to access secure areas of airports
Travel: Ability to travel locally, domestically, and internationally on short notice up to 35% of the time or more to meet immediate business needs throughout Canada, US or Europe.
