Job Summary:
Under the close supervision of the Community Education Director and Principal, plans and guides the learning process to help students achieve curriculum objectives. Teachers must maintain a comfortable classroom atmosphere conducive to learning while selecting and using effective instructional methods and learning materials. Teachers will establish a cooperative relationship with students, Innu Classroom Assistants and maintain communications with parents/guardians. Teachers will also participate and engage in professional growth activities under the direction of school administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Education (Primary/Elementary, Intermediate or Post Secondary) from an accredited college or university;
Valid Newfoundland and Labrador teaching certificate;
Demonstrate excellent skills in organization, communication, planning, teaching, evaluation and disciplining;
Demonstrate ability in team-work;
Knowledge of current curriculum;
A love of people, especially children and a passion for teaching and education.
