About The Opportunity
Under the direction of the Manager, Occupational Health Safety & Wellness (OHSW) the Safety Assistant provides support to the OHSW team. Activities include: respiratory protection (FIT testing) education and training, and assistance with all occupational health and safety related activities within the Western Zone.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Post-Secondary diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Undergraduate degree is an asset.
- Training, and/or previous experience with quantitative fit testing equipment
- Excellent computer skills; familiar with enterprise software systems; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Well-developed abilities and skills in modern office practices.
- Demonstrated strong organizational and team skills with emphasis on decision making, problem solving, motivational and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively determine day-to-day priorities and utilize foresight to ensure appropriate activities for self and recommendations for team members.
- Ability to work effectively during periods of high activity and with varying personality styles and tasks. Demonstrates resilience and maintains effectiveness. Flexible in creating and suggesting alternative solutions to meet goals.
- Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to effectively meet and communicate in situations requiring tact and poise. Proficiency in drafting detailed procedures, letters, reports, etc.
- Actively listens and conveys understanding of customers’ requests such that their needs can be anticipated and satisfied. Well-developed abilities with respect to problem solving required.

Hours
- Permanent Full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
- Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:00pm
- Travel to various locations will be required
- Location will be determined based on the successful candidate
Compensation and Incentives
$21.58 - $26.98 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
