Job Description:

Accountability: The H.R Project Coordinator directly reports to the Human Resources Manager.

Summary:

Through a government student grant program, the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth is looking to hire an HR Project Coordinator with us for a placement starting June until the end of August. The H.R. Project Coordinator will work with the Archdiocesan Human Resources team to provide administrative, project management, event, and training coordination.

In keeping with the government grant, applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada, legally entitled to work in Canada and must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the work assignment. The successful candidate must be able to commit to the full duration of the work assignment (summer through the end of August) and have been a full-time student in the past semester and planning to return to full time studies in the fall.

Duties and Responsibilities:

(main functions but not limited to the following)

  • Project Management – will be responsible to manage and implement an HR process improvement.
  • Assist and support with the implementation of the Archdiocesan Employee Recognition program.
  • Assist and support the development and design of mental health support for the diocesan website.
  • Policies and Procedures for Lay Employees – provide support in the development and updating of policies and procedures affecting lay employees of the Archdiocese.
  • Administrative Services – document filing, creating reports, creating correspondence

Position Relationships:

The H.R Project Coordinator works within the Human Resources Team delivering HR services and support in accordance with accepted standards, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures. The HR Project Coordinator will attend Human Resources team meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Must meet the requirements of grant application details
  • Above average communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Strong research, analytical, organizational and planning skills and the ability to prioritize and work well in a high-pressure, multi-task environment with the ability to shift smoothly between and among different initiatives
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of products including data base administration
  • Bilingual would be an asset
  • Previous experience in HR is considered an asset
  • Candidate should be pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related fields

Offer of employment is contingent on Canada Summer jobs funding approval and on upon the completion of all applicable background checks and confirmation of references and credentials, the results of which must be satisfactory to the employer.

The person who fills this position is required to consent to a Police Record Check and to sign an agreement to abide by the Responsible Ministry protocols of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth.
