Market Coordinator (1-Year Term) [City of Fredericton]
Job Description
The Market Coordinator will be report to the Board of Directors of Newmarket Properties Inc. and will be guided by and enforce all rules and regulations outlined by the Board.
The Market Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the Fredericton Boyce Farmers Market. The base work week is 40 hours. The position requires mandatory weekend work throughout the year and other work required throughout the week to prepare for Market days and special events.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all financials of the Fredericton Boyce Farmers Market including the collection of vendor fees, issuing invoices, and ensuring all vendors are in good financial standing with the Fredericton Boyce Farmers Market.
- Establish priorities for staff; ensure work is performed according to established standards, priorities, and budgets. Monitor staff performance and adjust actions as necessary.
- Day-to-Day Market Management and responsible for the supervision of all vendors adhering to the Fredericton Boyce Farmers Market's Rules, Regulations, Policies & Procedures. It also includes vendor recruitment & relations, space allocations, invoicing and payments.
- Ability to research and create policies and procedures according to accepted standards.
- Responsible for the coordination and set up of all Markets.
- Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Market (i.e., washrooms, open areas, parking lot / courtyard, kitchen, and entrances)
- Responsible for the marketing and promotion of the Market, including but not limited to, media communications, website management and social media.
- Responds to after-hour Market calls as required. Ensures a Market employee designate is assigned to respond to after-hour calls upon any absence.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Graduation from University or post secondary institution in marketing, business administration, arts or tourism. At least two (2) years supervisory experience.
Knowledge And Desired Skills
- Obtained or able to obtain relevant safety training (i.e., WHMIS, First Aid);
- Ability to supervise staff.
- Leadership - ability to create a shared understanding of requirements in the work environment and through influence, enable team members to fully contribute to team and Market objectives.
- Teamwork - ability to effectively contribute to the establishment, maintenance, and success of work teams, focused on achieving individual, team and departmental goals.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and written.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, City departments, government and outside agencies.
- Negotiation skills - ability to use negotiation techniques and influencing skills in a manner that gains agreement or acceptance.
- Problem solving abilities - ability to identify issues or problems and develop strategies, ideas and opportunities for resolving them.
- Able to work with minimal supervision, while making decisions related to the position with tact and diplomacy.
- Ensure excellent customer service; co-ordinates work of external contractors and consultants; communicate with suppliers as necessary; meet with officials from governing agencies as necessary.
- Knowledge on contract Management - creates (RFP), vendor contracts administration, event contract administration.
Requires possession of a valid Class V driver's license.
