General Claims Adjuster 1

Job Description
American Auto Shield, the exclusive policy administrator for CarShield, is seeking new talent to join its Mechanical Claims Adjustment team in its growing St. Peters office. Founded in 2002, and headquartered in Lakewood, CO, American Auto Shield is an industry leader in Vehicle Service Contract development and claims administration. Successful candidates will have strong competencies in the areas of communication, customer service, and at least two years automotive mechanical experience.

Position Overview

Responsible for adjudicating claims while adhering to various written contracts and internal standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities For Claims Adjuster 1

Answer phones in a courteous and efficient manner.

Review and be able to explain contract coverage terms and conditions.

Provide excellent customer service.

Adjudicate claims according to coverage terms and standard operating procedures.

Document files to include all key activities of the adjudication process and coverage determination.

Provide accurate and timely information to all external and internal customers concerning claim status and other claim inquires.

Recommend further action on claims exceeding authority limits.

Assist in the training and mentoring of new employees as requested.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience, Skills & Abilities For Claims Adjuster 1

Able to adhere to a defined work schedule.

Able to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.

Able to work independently and meet or exceed production targets with minimum supervision.

Friendly, courteous, and service-orientated.

Able to work effectively under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Able to recognize problems, identify possible causes, and resolve routine problems.

Able to read and interpret vehicle service contracts after completing company provided new hire training.

Able to read, comprehend, and adhere to written standard operating procedures.

Able to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers.

Able to comprehend and carry out verbal instructions.

Basic knowledge of: Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Microsoft Excel); Contract Management Systems; Word Processing Software (Microsoft Word); Electric Mail Software (Microsoft Outlook).

Required Education/Certifications For Claims Adjuster 1

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Two years automotive mechanical experience and/or training as a Service Advisor, Service Manager, Tech, or Mechanical Claims Adjuster required.
