As part of the facilities team, the Assistant Facilities Manager is responsible to assist the Facilities Manager in planning and maintaining plant operations and maintenance of schools and other district properties.
Travel throughout Anglophone West School District will be required. The successful candidate may be required to provide their own motor vehicle for travelling in the performance of their regular duties and shall be paid in accordance with the applicable Board of Management Travel Policy.
The Successful Applicant Will
Be responsible for daily operations related to the administration of the overall physical plant and management of the computerized Maintenance Management System (MPC), including the assignment and prioritization of repair projects within the Education.
Participate in Health and Safety and Labour/Management meetings as requested by the Manager.
Conduct technical evaluation of physical plant problems and assign appropriate maintenance personnel.
Respond to inquiries and concerns related to facilities.
Assist in the preparation of tenders.
Other duties may be assigned.
Essential Qualifications
Graduation from a university or community college and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in engineering or engineering technology.
Demonstrated computer literacy with strong skills in all MS Office products.
Good written, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Written and spoken competency in English is required.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Asset Qualifications
Experience in management of physical plants, construction projects, facilities maintenance, or building systems.
Experience in budgeting and expenditure controls.

The incumbent must have excellent interpretation, analytical, and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently, accurately, and in a confidential manner and have excellent communication skills.
This is an open competition; however, in accordance with Public Service Alliance of Canada Union Collective Agreement, should unionized employees under this bargaining group apply, employees shall be selected on the basis of skill, ability, competence and qualifications. Where skill, qualifications and ability are relatively equal amongst union applicants, the vacancy will be filled on the basis of seniority. If there are no union applicants, the position will be filled from qualified applicants for these competitions. Staffing for this position will comply with the terms of the collective agreement. Should a breach in process be brought to our attention following the appointment, it will be reviewed in conjunction with the union. If it is found that the original appointment made was in breach of the collective agreement, the employer shall rescind the employment offer.
