Position Summary

Based out of New Glasgow or Halifax, NS, the Coordinator, Corporate Realty Tax provides support and analysis for Crombie’s national portfolio, and plays integral role in the administration, review, payment, analysis, and execution of property taxes. Additional duties of the Coordinator, Corporate Realty Tax include but are not limited to:

  • Acts as the point of contact for assessment authorities and municipal officials, ensuring correspondence and information reaches the appropriate internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Follows up on inquiries regarding property tax accounts, address updates, resolves bill discrepancies, and addresses other outstanding administrative questions and issues.
  • Completes various administration items including, but not limited to, bill payment tracking, bill approval preparation, document distribution, general correspondence and retrieving, sorting and cataloging mail.
  • Processes property tax bills in a timely fashion in order to minimize interest and arrears charges.
  • Compiles, circulates for review, and ensures submission to Requests for Information from assessment authorities nationally.
  • Ensures assessment and realty tax information is up to date and consistent across all key platforms and databases including Yardi Voyager, SharePoint, and other property tax software as required.
  • Reviews, organizes, tracks, and updates the file system for Realty Tax information (digital and hard copies).
  • Tracks key property tax deadlines including appeal filing and billing dates, and proactively seeks missing/outstanding bills.
  • Circulates information and processes payment for third party representation/consulting for appeals or tax concerns.
  • Compiles and coordinates all necessary information is gathered to ensure all supporting documentation is provided at time of appeal.
  • Assists with the preparation of recovery schedules, budgets, tax impact analysis, assessment analysis, vacancy rebates and process tax rebate applications as required.
  • Engages across all levels of the organization to create and promote a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Other special projects and tasks as assigned.

Our ideal candidate has one (1) to two (2) years’ experience in a similar role. The successful candidate has superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple competing deadlines across jurisdictions, work independently, and manage various projects and mandates. They have advanced working knowledge in in MS Office Suite such as Excel, Word, Yardi Voyager and SharePoint. They have strong communication skills, both verbally and written with demonstrated professionalism, and ability to interact and engage with all levels of the organization. Having a solid working knowledge of Crombie’s business processes and portfolio is considered an asset. The successful candidate is also able to collaborate well and work in a team environment.
