Please apply on Isarta.com https://isarta.com/jobs/?utm_source=IND&job=98818 PROGRAM OVERVIEW: The Declaration Act Secretariat (DAS) coordinates, guides and assists the cross-government effort to work in consultation and cooperation with Indigenous Peoples to align laws with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as per section 3 of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (Declaration Act): Measures to align laws with Declaration: S.3 In consultation and cooperation with the Indigenous peoples in British Columbia, the government must take all measures necessary to ensure the laws of British Columbia are consistent with the Declaration. The Secretariat guides and assists ministries to deliver substantive measures to support a coherent, consistent, and systemic implementation of the Declaration Act. JOB OVERVIEW: The Communications and Engagement Coordinator reports to the Director of Legislative Engagement and Change. This position will support the external and internal strategic communications work of the Declaration Act Secretariat, as well as building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous partners and internal stakeholders. The Communications and Engagement Coordinator brings proficiency in crafting communications products and thinks innovatively on how to effectively engage with regard to the work and services of the Secretariat to both internal stakeholders and Indigenous partners. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, English, or related field Experience in public/media relations, corporate communications, and stakeholder engagement in a large organization. Professional writing experience (e.g.: engagement and communication plans, new releases, backgrounders; publications content; speech writing; notes and strategies for legislative introductions; web content etc.) An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Preferences: Supporting projects related to the rights of Indigenous peoples.
