Job Description
Driftpile Cree Nation (DCN) is a proud and culturally strong First Nation located between the towns of Slave Lake from the west, and High Prairie from the east, approximately 340 km northwest of Edmonton. The Nation is nestled on the south shore of Lesser Slave Lake. As the second-largest lake entirely within the Alberta boundaries Lesser Slave Lake is a stunning destination for birders and wildlife enthusiasts. As a dynamic and vibrant community, we are dedicated to delivering services that continually improve the community through improvements in social programs and infrastructure projects. POSITION OVERVIEW: Driftpile Cree Nation (DCN) is currently looking to fill the fulltime position of the Director of Health and Healing. Reporting to the CAO, the Director of Health and Healing will be responsible for the administration of health and mental wellness department employees, contracts, funding agreements, programs and services in the Driftpile Cree Nation community. This position will ensure a high standard and quality of services and supports are delivered. The individual will coordinate all department operations, collaborate with departmental partners and agencies, maintain positive relations with authorities and agencies and ensure quality comprehensive services and supports for the DCN community. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Management of all health, mental wellness and addictions services programs and supports, department operations, clinical services and budgets. Management of human resources, contractors and performance measurement. Develop efficient and concise operational plans and coordinate all health services programs personnel to provide monthly activity reports and contribute to reporting measures. Responsible for the development, acquisition and implementation of current and new program and services and maintaining responsible budgets, evaluation processes and reporting commitments. Maintain appropriate occupational health and safety processes, implement health related regulations as required and comply with and provide recommendations to update Maggie Willier Wellness Centre & Driftpile Cree Nation policies and procedures. Project management regarding emerging, current, and standing health issues and conditions of risk. Ensure the Health Centre, home care, Healing Lodge and other health related facilities and assets are well maintained and provide a positive health experience based on offering quality, comprehensiveness and a full continuum of programs, services and supports in health and wellness. May be required to cover lead positions, work evenings and/or weekends, and travel. Performs other duties as required by DCN administration and leadership. QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration, Health and Wellness Services Administration, Public Administration or related field. Minimum of three years senior level management experience in administration, with duties that include grant proposal development, health services administration and outcome-based service delivery. Proven record in leadership, financial management and engagement. Knowledgeable of Federal and Provincial health systems. Proficient in the use of accounting systems; Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint; email communications and general database use. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a team leader and member, inspiring employee excellence and team building. Experience in health and community needs assessment and program/service development and planning. Knowledge of DCN community resources. Knowledge of Indigenous community, health, values and culture. Ability to maintain confidentiality, follow protocol and align with conflict-of-interest guidelines. Demonstrate professionalism, problem solving and flexibility. Valid class 5 driver's license, with clean driver abstract and access to, and use of, a reliable vehicle. Fluency in Cree is considered an assist. Criminal, Vulnerable Sector & Child Intervention Record checks are required for this position. Salary: Salary commensurate with education and years of experience.
