Driftpile Cree Nation (DCN) is a proud and culturally strong First Nation located between the towns of Slave Lake from the west, and High Prairie from the east, approximately 340 km northwest of Edmonton. The Nation is nestled on the south shore of Lesser Slave Lake. As the second-largest lake entirely within the Alberta boundaries Lesser Slave Lake is a stunning destination for birders and wildlife enthusiasts. Job Overview: The Administrative Assistant, under the direction of the Human Resources Officer (HRO), is primarily responsible for administrative support including benefits administration and transactional functions of the human resources department. The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for managing HR documents, assisting with maintaining compliance with policies and procedures, and managing DCN’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Bamboo HR. Duties & Responsibilities: Support the HRO with outgoing communications and coordination of tasks. Answer employee queries about HR-related issues and be the first point of contact for employees and managers. Complete data entry and record keeping. Schedule meetings and assist in the maintenance of the HRO’s calendar. Implement human resources requirements in conjunction with other departmental managers. Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, health and safety regulations, and ethical standards. Assist with the onboarding and orientation of new hires. Process employee changes such as wage, position, and any other role details in Bamboo HR. Collaborate with Payroll to ensure all timesheets in Bamboo HR are accurate and complete for payroll processing. In conjunction with consultants, act as the point of contact for Managers and Directors regarding Bamboo HR support (timesheet entry adjustments, time off requests adjustments, etc.). Foster and maintain an approachable human resources department. Collaborate with other members of the human resources department and consultants to complete all tasks and projects promptly. Attend all Driftpile Cree Nation community events to further build relationships with the various departments and community. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Degree or diploma in business administration, human resources management, or a related field is required. Minimum of 1 year working in an administrative position. Able to make sound business decisions and evidence-based recommendations to senior management. Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization. Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills. Sound leadership, staff management, and team-building skills. Computer literacy, including advanced working skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required. Able to interpret and implement personnel-related legislation. Demonstrated basic knowledge of labour laws. Ability to understand and Cree would be considered an asset. Must provide clear Criminal, Vulnerable Sectors Checks and proof that a Child Welfare Information Systems check has been initiated at time of interview.
