Job Description The Land Command Support System (LCSS) is the system of systems that primarily supports the Canadian Army in operations by providing commanders with the information and information services required to make effective and timely command and control decisions about their forces. It is an interconnected network of digital communications and information systems by which the data needed to plan, direct and control tactical land operations is communicated, stored, processed and displayed. We are currently hiring Co-Op students for both the LCSS Headquarters Systems Engineering Team and the Collaboration and System Administration (CaSA) Team for an eight month. As part of the teams you will work with other system engineers, software developers and integration teams to perform systems engineering activities for products intended for use in military headquarters for planning, deployment, and battle management. You will work closely with and receive mentorship from experienced engineers from different disciplines. The responsibilities and range of activities will vary, but in general will include: Participate in the requirements elicitation process and prepare requirements documents and specifications. Develop and document system designs, define system interfaces, and conduct analyses with support from the lead system engineer and other senior engineers. Build, configure, and validate test environments with some testing and report preparation at the integration/configuration level. Analyze System Integration Testing results and test data. Coordinate with the System Integration team on testing required. Identify and resolve issues/defects. Verbal and written presentations to GDMS-C management and customers. Qualifications Education & Experience Currently pursuing bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, or applicable scientific discipline is required. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, problem solving and analysis skills, and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment. Enthusiastic contributor, willing to learn new skills, and takes pride and ownership of work. Additional Information Security Clearance Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations.
