CRA's National EE Staffing Strategy strives to eliminate gaps for the four EE designated groups: Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities, and women. Where an EE gap exists at the time of appointment, EE may be used as an appointment criterion for permanent and temporary appointments over six months made through this process.

Below are examples of some of the positions that may be staffed along with a brief summary of their duties.

  • Electronic Data Capture (EDC) Operator (SP01)
    • Keys information from returns and other source documents.
    • Uses bar-code reader to electronically capture data from returns.
    • Verifies, edits, and corrects captured data
    • Provides technical support to team members for the electronic data capture of returns and other source documents.
  • General Duties Clerk (SP01 & SP02)
    • Screens, sorts, files, retrieves and maintains various information relating to taxpayer or benefit recipient records and files.
    • Maintains and updates computerized and/or manual inventory control systems.
    • Conducts searches for misplaced files and documents.
    • Receive, sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
    • Receive and re-direct incoming calls and messages to appropriate staff.
  • Examiner & Document Processing Clerk (SP02)
    • Analyzes and assesses the information and/or documentation received from taxpayers and/or their representatives, takes the appropriate action in order to complete assessment or reassessment of the returns and, in some cases, processes accounting documents.
    • Communicates with taxpayers and/or internal clients orally and/or in writing to obtain additional information or documentation in order to take measures to complete their returns or claims or to explain changes made to their returns or claims.
  • Imaging Technology Clerk (SP02)
    • Sorts, dresses and prepares large volumes of seized documents for the scanning process.
    • Scans documents using high-end scanners to capture an electronic image of each document and produce a research tool customized to the needs of the investigator.
    • Reassembles documents to their original state
    • Performs quality control reviews at the various stages of the imaging process.
  • Mail and General Services Technician (SP02)
    • Operates material handling equipment and lifts.
    • Carries or moves items up to 30 kg in weight.
    • Dismantles, moves, and constructs office enclosures and performs basic maintenance.

Intention Of The Staffing Process

The pool established from the staffing process may be used to staff similar positions. One or more pools may be created from this staffing process.

Salary Ranges

SP01 positions: $45,869 to $50,636

SP02 positions: $52,595 to $58,053

In the case of candidates previously terminated or rejected on probation from positions within the CRA, please note that additional verifications will be conducted. Based on the reasons for termination or rejection, an applicant may not be considered further in the staffing process/considered for appointment, as they may be deemed to not meet one or more of the staffing requirements.

AND individuals with preferred status who live or work within the general rule of minimum distance of the position(s) being staffed.

Qualified members and former members of the Canadian Forces who receive an offer of employment are not entitled to relocation costs from the CRA. They may, however, be entitled to a final relocation from the Department of National Defense.

Preference for appointment will be given to veterans, Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

It is important to note that successful candidates for these positions will be required to physically work on-site at the locations indicated above. Virtual reporting opportunities are not available, at this time.

Please note that this process will be used to staff positions in Summerside, PEI. If you are a candidate from the general public, you will have to pay for any expenses related to your participation in this staffing process, as well as any relocation costs if you receive an offer of employment from this process.

To be eligible, you will need to meet the following requirements.

Education

  • Successful completion of a secondary school diploma or CRA-approved alternatives* *Minimum education standard webpage

Note: You are not required to have previous work experience to apply. However, experience relevant to the position being staffed may be considered. For this purpose, we would require a current resume to your Candidate Profile outlining your work history and experience.

The minimum and essential staffing requirements indicated below will be assessed during the process and may be used to identify candidates for positions. Asset staffing requirements may also be assessed during the staffing process and may be used to identify candidates for positions. Please note that some positions that will be staffed as part of this staffing process may require the frequent lifting and transportation of boxes or other materials weighing 5-20 kg.
