Position: Executive Assistant/Communications Coordinator

Organization: Natoaganeg First Nation - Mawlugutineg Mental Wellness Team

Location: Eel Ground First Nation, NB

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 9am-4pm

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience

Term: 10 months (leave replacement)

Anticipated start date: March 25th, 2024

Who We Are

Mawlugutineg Mental Wellness Team is a partnership of five Mi'kmaq communities including Metepenagiag, Natoaganeg, Esgenoopetitj, Pabineau and Ugpi'ganjig whose mandate is to decolonize mental health services for our community members. In the past two years we have witnessed significant uptake of mental health services and our staff is growing to meet the demand. We are looking to add a compassionate, self-motivated administrative professional to our team as executive assistant/communications coordinator who will support the director and front-line staff in delivering quality and culturally safe mental health services to the partner communities. Additionally, this position will lead communications for the agency through social media and other engagement platforms.

Responsibilities

Supports the overall efficient day to day operations of the Mawlugutineg Mental Wellness team for performing the following functions:

  • Answers incoming calls and emails and directs them appropriately - with compassion and understanding.
  • Provides support by preparing charts, forms, and spreadsheets; compiles and collates materials.
  • Assists in various specialized project tasks related to program and service delivery,
  • Organizes meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes and prepares and distributes minutes to appropriate staff.
  • Compiles statistical and other data to prepare reports and documents related to services provided as required.
  • Basic financial duties as required
  • Responds to inquiries or requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Maintains social media accounts and website.
  • Assists in the organization and delivery of community outreach initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with program objectives.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an office administration diploma (minimum one year) and two (2) years experience in a comparable role (or a combination of relevant education and experience)
  • Sound knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, historical context of intergenerational trauma and its impacts; trauma-informed and client-centered approaches to care.
  • Proficiency with various computer software including Microsoft Office, Zoom, Teams, and other applications as necessary
  • Efficient Typing and Data Entry skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment
  • Optimal time management skills
  • Compassion, Flexibility, Discretion and Confidentiality
  • Familiarity with usage of various social media platforms and promotional tools
  • Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
