General Accountability Reporting to the Manager Accounts Payable, this position performs a variety of reporting and control functions such as coordinating and processing transactions, balancing, reconciling information, and/or ensuring timely payment of invoices associated with the work of the section. Key Job Functions Ensures the accurate and timely payment of acceptable invoices for all general goods and services provided to or received by the TTC through direct shipment or warehouse deliveries Ensures timely and accurate payment of all general invoices through the use of the Industrial Financial System (IFS) Ensures all taxes, discounts and credits/debit memos are appropriately applied to invoice information and payments and reviews any special charges to ensure its appropriateness and that the charge is properly accounted for Ensures all accounting entries required for paid invoices are accurate and completed on a timely basis Process or assist with the processing of documentation, reports, data, with accuracy, and manage and maintain these documents, records, files, following established procedures and within established timelines. Liaise with other colleagues/support staff, other departments, and/or external parties concerning routine matters under the direction of department staff. Provide general administrative services and inform others of correct procedures, standards, etc. Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Skills Maintain documentation and historical records Perform relevant mathematical calculations and statistical analyses Communicate in a variety of mediums Use office technology, software and applications Create, document, and manage information and records Apply analytical skills Education and Experience Completion of post-secondary college diploma or university degree in related discipline (e.g. Accounting) or combination of education, training and several years of experience in a similar environment using financial systems/program Additional Requirements Good understanding of Accounts Payable principles and knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices Strong mathematical skills Strong customer service skills combined with an ability to work with diverse organizations Strong research and problem solving skills with the ability to analyze various forms of data; Proficiency in the use of a PC and computer applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word Must be detail oriented as well as possess excellent communication skills Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or as a team member in a fast-paced and high volume environment with multiple deadlines Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
