Job Summary
The Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) works in partnership with academic units, faculty members, and graduate students to enhance the practice and scholarship of learning and teaching at Dalhousie University through an evidence-based approach to enhance the Dalhousie learning environment. Reporting to the Director of the CLT, the Senior Educational Developer (Curriculum) will provide leadership for curriculum and educational development projects as well as support the development of program outcomes, curriculum mapping processes, and implementation of curriculum and program evaluation plans for new and existing academic programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with deans, directors, department heads, and faculty on projects to support innovative curricular and program design and development; identify program needs in the area of curriculum development and renewal; and advise on approaches to articulated learning outcomes and curriculum mapping.
- Plan and deliver formal and informal faculty professional development in the area of teaching and learning innovation, with a particular focus on curriculum and instructional design. Facilitate committee work involving faculty and other stakeholders related to curriculum development.
- Develop and maintain productive partnerships with individuals and academic units engaged in educational development and program/curricular design. Design and support program evaluation processes to demonstrate the success of academic programs.
- Liaise with academic units to identify program needs in the area of educational and faculty development. Conduct confidential consultations with individual faculty with a view to improving the quality of teaching and learning. Advise and coach faculty in the development of their teaching dossiers.
- Identify best practices in higher education teaching and learning, instructional design and development, and bring new approaches to Dalhousie. Conduct scholarly work, including research and academic publication, in higher education teaching and learning.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in a relevant field with approximately five years?۪ related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Experience in educational development, curriculum development and renewal, teaching in a higher education setting, and writing and evaluating proposals.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work highly independently with strong judgment.

- A track-record and on-going productivity in Scholarship of Teaching of Learning and/or Scholarship of Education Development such as through individual research projects, presentations and/or publications.
