About Our Opportunity
The Director Financial Advisory Services is responsible for providing strategic direction and technical leadership in the development of fiscal management strategy to assist the province in meeting its shared services objectives.
As the Director Financial Advisory Services, you will provide guidance and direction to a team supporting the client Departments of Justice and Public Service Votes.
This position reports to the Executive Director of Financial Advisory Services
Primary Accountabilities
You will be responsible for:
- Budgeting, forecasting, year-end audit requirements, and accountability reporting.
- Managing operational budget submissions.
- Overseeing and directing third party cost sharing arrangements, ensuring they are properly reflected in budgets, forecasted, and accounted for.
- Provide leadership and support in the development of departmental policies and programs. Oversee the provision of briefing material.
- Ensure that expenditures are accounted for in adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) and government policies.
- Provide advice, recommendations and assistance to senior management, client departments, agencies and authorities.
Qualifications And Experience
This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a university degree in business, commerce, or public administration and a professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA). Several years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in a large organization, is also required.
As the successful candidate, you will possess a broad base of experience in budget development, forecasting, and financial accounting reporting. Demonstrated ability in leading and engaging a team is a must. This position requires an aptitude to deal with complex issues, strong analytical skills, tact and diplomacy, capacity for decisive action, and the ability to influence.
You are a seasoned leader and excellent communicator with several years of experience engaging a variety of stakeholders.
While not required, it is considered an asset if you have knowledge and experience in government financial policies and procedures.

Communication, Partnering and Relationship Building, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.

Additional Information
This is a TERM/TEMPORARY/CASUAL employment opportunity with anticipated end date of
March 31, 2025. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: EC 13 -
Salary Range: $3,918.14 - $4,897.66 Bi-Weekly
