Position OverviewThe Department of Clinical Neurosciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.This position reports to the Principal Investigator.The Research Assistant's primary purpose is to assist the Principal Investigator and support the research team through providing semi-skilled or skilled procedures. This will include data collection, data management, data entry and data analysis to assist in the goals of the research. The Research Assistant will record findings to collaborate on publications within the field of the research in both a national and international level. Success in the role will require some judgment and decision making, following procedures and guidelines set by the PI, and extensive daily collaboration with the research team.This is a recurring part-time position. Recurring Part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.Position DescriptionSummary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to): Under general supervision & direction of the PI, develop and implement data collection and analysis procedures within the guidelines of the research:Data collection in a clinical setting- will involve contacting potential research participants and direct data collection from themData management- ensuring data collection forms are completeData entry in research databaseData analysis using STATA- background knowledge of statistics and use of statistical software programs requiredSystematic reviews of the literatureData extraction from clinical studiesData synthesisDrafting of research reports and articlesConduct literature review, surveys, and other research for us in scholarly publications when required toPerform standard trouble-shootingDemonstrate strong communication, analytical, and organizational skillsWork collaboratively with departmental and interdepartmental teamsWorks independently in performance of day-to-day activitiesEstablishes and maintains effective, productive relationships with staff, peers, immediate supervisor and senior management and with the campus community. Manages own time effectively and ensures immediate reports to manager is kept informed of activities, and progress of work. Demonstrated strong communication, and team skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines. Understanding of safety codes, standards, and systems related to specializationQualifications / Requirements:A degree in a health-related field (e.g. MD, RN, BPharm) or clinical epidemiology is preferred. Working knowledge of statistics and ability to use statistical software programs (STATA)Knowledge of principles of clinical epidemiology and health research methodsInteract with other members of the team and undertake literature reviewsMust be open to learning and development, and be willing to accept new challenges and assignments. Work with research participants for data collectionDemonstrated strong communication, and team working skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelinesIntermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet skillsKnowledge of University core business systems is desirableA positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical to successApplication Deadline: January 17, 2023We would like to thank all applicants in advance for submitting their resumes.
