Position Overview The Department of Clinical Neurosciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant . This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. This position reports to the Principal Investigator. The Research Assistant's primary purpose is to assist the Principal Investigator and support the research team through providing semi-skilled or skilled procedures. This will include data collection, data management, data entry and data analysis to assist in the goals of the research. The Research Assistant will record findings to collaborate on publications within the field of the research in both a national and international level. Success in the role will require some judgment and decision making, following procedures and guidelines set by the PI, and extensive daily collaboration with the research team. This is a recurring part-time position. Recurring Part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule. Position Description Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to): Under general supervision & direction of the PI, develop and implement data collection and analysis procedures within the guidelines of the research: Data collection in a clinical setting- will involve contacting potential research participants and direct data collection from them Data management- ensuring data collection forms are complete Data entry in research database Data analysis using STATA- background knowledge of statistics and use of statistical software programs required Systematic reviews of the literature Data extraction from clinical studies Data synthesis Drafting of research reports and articles Conduct literature review, surveys, and other research for us in scholarly publications when required to Perform standard trouble-shooting Demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills Work collaboratively with departmental and interdepartmental teams Works independently in performance of day-to-day activities Establishes and maintains effective, productive relationships with staff, peers, immediate supervisor and senior management and with the campus community. Manages own time effectively and ensures immediate reports to manager is kept informed of activities, and progress of work. Demonstrated strong communication, and team skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines. Understanding of safety codes, standards, and systems related to specialization Qualifications / Requirements: A degree in a health-related field (e.g. MD, RN, BPharm) or clinical epidemiology is preferred. Working knowledge of statistics and ability to use statistical software programs (STATA) Knowledge of principles of clinical epidemiology and health research methods Interact with other members of the team and undertake literature reviews Must be open to learning and development, and be willing to accept new challenges and assignments. Work with research participants for data collection Demonstrated strong communication, and team working skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet skills Knowledge of University core business systems is desirable A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical to success Application Deadline: January 17, 2023 We would like to thank all applicants in advance for submitting their resumes.
