More information about the program are available on our website: BNP Paribas in Canada | Students & Young graduates The position at a glance The Registrations Compliance team supports BNP Paribas Securities Corp. (U.S. SEC/FINRA registered broker-dealer; NFA/CFTC registered futures commission merchant/swap firm; holds memberships with various principal U.S./Non-U.S. exchanges/regulators) and its registered personnel from a licensing and registration perspective. In addition, the team supports BNP Paribas’ (CFTC registered swap dealer) from an entity perspective and registration of its principals. The team collaborates closely across all business lines to ensure the firm and its registered employees are satisfying their regulatory obligations. Who we are looking for? People with great technical and people skills, a keen interest in financial regulation, and a strong desire to learn Broker-Dealer licensing and registrations best practices. You will develop a strong knowledge of US registration rules and regulations, especially those of the SEC, FINRA, CFTC/NFA and U.S. state jurisdictions. Why it matters: The “risk of non-compliance” is the risk which arises from the failure to comply with regulatory provisions, business and ethical standards or BNP Paribas directives applicable to the Bank. Our team works various key stakeholders to ensure that our licensing & registration policies, procedures, and processes comply with the regulations - SEC, CFTC, FINRA, NFA, state jurisdictions and other Self-Regulatory Organizations. In detail Registrations Compliance is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete FINRA and CFTC/NFA registration for Registered Representatives of BNP Paribas Securities Corp and the swap dealer(s). In addition, ensuring the appropriate corporate filings and reporting obligations are timely satisfied. As a Compliance Intern, you will be required to: Timely process regulatory filings to ensure that all new employees joining the firm in a position which requires securities/futures license(s) are adequately licensed or pass the appropriate exams. Participate in the digital transformation of the Licensing & Registrations System Partner with the various departments on initiatives, projects, policy, procedure development and issue resolution to mitigate risk. Develop/enhance policies, procedures, and processes to comply with the regulations - SEC, CFTC, FINRA, NFA, state jurisdictions and other Self-Regulatory Organizations The strengths and skills that will help you succeed Student in Bachelor or Master in Law, Business administration, security and police studies with a graduation date in December 2023 or in May 2024 Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) Power BI is an asset Critical thinking and judgement Adaptable Intellectual curiosity Bilingualism Working knowledge of standard computer hardware and software SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS Ability to manage stress and priorities Investigation capabilities Ability to understand implications of new regulations and to apply regulations to varying “real world” situations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with front and back office staff and senior management.
