Project Manager (Contractual Position)
Job Description
The “Project Manager” will support ERI’s development and delivery of existing or new research and development (R&D) projects for the NL offshore oil and gas industry.
Responsibilities
- Provide oversight for assigned projects, with specific responsibility for working with operators and/or relevant service/supply companies on supporting R&D projects.
- Manage specific projects by utilizing industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution; monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed while ensuring project completion is within scope, schedule and budget.
- Manage budgets and validate project expenditures based on contracts.
- Chair and/or participate in project steering committees.
- Develop and present reports on progress, schedule or budget issues, project risks, change management, and other project management activities as required by program governance.
- Prepare documentation in response to scheduled and unscheduled reports, returns and observations.
Skills
- Experience managing projects through the full life cycle with experience in various digital and information technology projects preferred
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people
Qualifications and Education requirements:
- University degree in Engineering, Science, or Business plus a minimum of 10 years of project management oil and gas experience—equivalent related education and experience as acceptable to the employer may be considered
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
- Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices including MS Office, MS Project, Visio tools
Preference for:
- Offshore oil and gas operational field experience on producing assets
- Project management and/or R&D portfolio/program management experience including working with research-oriented, project/portfolio management processes used for the offshore oil and gas industry
- Experience dealing with suppliers and partners from the private sector, government, research laboratories, and educational institutions
- Familiarity with the Newfoundland and Labrador offshore R&D sector, including the relevant research and development and supply sectors

Hours of Work:
This is a full-time contractual position. Responsibilities require work service of 37.5 hours per week.
