Primary Care Paramedic II, Temporary Full Time (Approximately 6 months with possible extension)

Definition Of Work
The Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) provides effective and efficient emergency care and transportation of the seriously ill in a pre-hospital/hospital setting, while transporting to hospital, as well as, in hospital. The successful candidate also provides primary client care by surveying the emergency situation and taking necessary action. The PCP may be required to respond to security issues at Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre. Also, as a member of the code response teams, the PCP will respond to code requests in the facility to carry out roles/responsibilities as identified in the code plans. The paramedic is an integral member of the Emergency Department team, providing care, based on their scope of practice to patients in the ER, in collaboration with nursing staff and physicians. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
- Graduation from an approved paramedic program accredited by the Canadian Medical Association.
- BLS Certification.
- PMO Certification (including all current courses/modules).
- Current physical capability testing certificate (within the last 3 months) and continued responsibility to meet the minimal standards of physical capability as outlined in provincial policy.
- Demonstrated training and/or experience in IV Therapy and symptom relief medications.
- A valid Class IV driver's license issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
- A current Driver's Abstract from Motor Vehicle Registration.
- Current registration number with Provincial Medical Oversight.
- Successful candidate will be required to live within a 20 kilometre radius of the facility.

- A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
- A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Primary Care Paramedic.
Hours of work: 75 hours bi-weekly (Shift work may be required)
Salary: CG-29 ($26.54-$29.48)
