Prep Cook

Job Description

Chess Piece Patisserie & Cafe is hiring 2 part-time (could lead to full time quickly) Line & Prep Cooks to join our growing company. This position is to support the cafe at 361 Queen Street and the Fredericton International Airport. The ability to work on-site at YFC is mandatory for one position.

We are looking for a highly-motivated and dependable Line & Prep Cook to help us keep up with product demand at our growing cafes. The right candidate will have experience working independently and following a recipe book. The ideal candidate will be professional and proactive with a strong attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Washing/chopping vegetables
• Making soups/sauces
• Filling display cases with lunch items ie: soups, sandwiches, salads
• General preparation of menu items that change seasonally.
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• General upkeep of kitchen. Responsible for dishes.
• Helping put away orders from vendors weekly.
• Be able to stand for extended periods.
• Be able to lift 20kg (50lbs).
• Be able to comfortably walk stairs with bulk food items.
• Proper FIFO rotation of product.
• Be able to follow recipes given, follow instructions and procedures for the company.
• Make/follow prep lists.
• Able to think on their feet/problem solving skills/critical thinking.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 ??? 32 per week
