The Opportunity Reporting to the Manager of Ambulatory Surgical Care, the Plastic Surgery Clinic Nurse is responsible and accountable for the application of current theory and research in the delivery of family-centred nursing care to children and their families in the Plastic Surgery clinic, consistent with the philosophy, vision, objectives and mission of the Health Centre. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supports the Plastic Surgery team during clinic. Clinic nurse preps clinic list; manages flow during clinic; places patients and families in clinic rooms; cleans rooms after each patient has been seen. Accurately assesses patient/family needs during clinic visits: and develops an individualized plan of care; and continuously evaluates the plan of care making revisions as necessary. Provides education to patients and families in preparation for surgical procedures; diagnostic procedures and treatment methods Performs diagnostic procedures. Supports the Plastic Surgery team as part of multidisciplinary team that provides care to children and families. Acts as a resource and liaisons with Plastic Surgery physicians, residents, learners and other health care providers for children within the Plastic Surgery department. Liaises with in-patient unit and families to ensure any questions or concerns are being addressed. Participates in team meetings. Participates in accreditation for Plastic Surgery. Facilitates decision-making by promoting collaboration and cooperation amongst team members. Participates in the development and maintenance of policies, protocols, standards and guidelines. Participates in, and promotes evidence based practice. In collaboration with other members of the team participates in identifying issues that have potential or actual impact on clinical Hours of Work Monday-Friday, 0800-1600hrs Your Qualifications Registered, or able to be registered, with NSCN, required. Current BCLS Certification, required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required (candidates with commensurate experience and education will be considered). Minimum two (2) years Ambulatory nursing experience, preferred. Demonstrated commitment to professional development and practice, required. Demonstrated strong communication (both verbal & written) and interpersonal skills, required. Demonstrated sound judgement, independent decision making and leadership skills., required. Proven sound knowledge of Family Centred Care, required. Competency in other languages considered an asset; French, our second official language, preferred. Computer Skills, preferred.
