Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.
What you will do?
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking four (4) individuals to join the Miramichi District as Operations Worker II, working in the Construction Branch.
As an Operations Worker II, you will work under the direction of the Senior Resident Engineer and be responsible for:
- Weigh and check materials; verify and record contents on ticket.
- Assist technicians in setting up instruments and targets.
- Mark benchmarks, shoulder pickets, shoulder offset, right of ways, back of ditch stakes, grades and operate measuring lines.
- Ensure truck is properly equipped with supplies and equipment.
- Ensure tools are clean and in good operating order.
Work Environment
- Work location: Various locations
- 40-hour work week, with variable hours, including, evenings and weekends, when required.
- Working on job sites in all weather conditions, exposure to dust and fumes.
- Ability to lift and carry survey equipment and walking over uneven or sloping terrain.
- Some travel within the region will be required.

Essential Qualifications
- Completion of grade ten (10) and a minimum of two (2) years related work experience.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

SALARY: $22.72 per hour, based on 40 hours work per week.
