Position type: This is a full-time hourly position, with benefits package.
The bookkeeper/analyst will play a trusted role in our business, communicating with management, project development/management, and admin staff.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manage all bookkeeping and accounting operations including receiving & processing records, invoicing, A/R and A/P, payroll, GL reconciliation, cash flow, filing
- Create weekly and monthly internal financial reporting (cash flow, forecasting, budgeting, etc.)
- Monitor cash balances and prepare weekly cash forecasts in collaboration with management
- Independently interpret and analyze financial data, as well as perform specialized reporting and analysis as requested, to work closely with management team in business stewardship, planning, and growth
- Develop, document, and enforce internal controls for spending and recordkeeping, and investigate variances
- Process bi-weekly payroll through an external provider (experience with ADP an asset but not required)
- Make periodic filings and remittances to CRA, Service Canada, WCB
- Support year-end close processes, working with Habermehl?۪s external accountant
- Manage and comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements
- Manage insurance policies, business licensing requirements, and other registrations
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 5 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- Advanced degree in Accounting preferred; CPA designation is an asset
- Must have proficiency in using QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel, and high level of computer literacy to adopt our software processes (Builder Trend for construction management, Microsoft suite for data management and communication)
- Strong understanding of financial and managerial accounting
- Organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy, and commitment to timely performance
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Willing to be a leader demonstrating ethical stewardship of the company
- Experience in construction industry an asset
