Medical Administrative Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and hardworking individual to work as a medical office administrator for one Orthopedic surgeon. This involves interfacing with patients, managing communications and running the office. You will be responsible for coordinating office clinical activities as well as oversight of hospital based clinical activities (further detailed below). The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills and be adept at multi-tasking.

Most tasks managed though an electronic medical record (EMR) interface: Accuro.

Tasks include:

?? Manage patient phone calls [questions/concerns, appointments] and patient email correspondence. Critical role as liaison between patient and surgeon.

?? Maintain the surgeons schedule within shared calendars

?? Book office appointments, certain investigations

?? Coordination of external clinic appointments, some investigations

?? Book Surgeries/ coordinate with OR Utilization/ patient for preoperative lab work

?? Maintain excel spreadsheets for various waitlists (referrals/ surgeries)

?? Book, run, and organize in-office appointments

?? Scan and file incoming documents

?? Organize incoming referrals and book appointments as triaged

?? Correspondence with EMR support and IT support as needed

?? Minor bookkeeping/tracking of invoices

As a Medical Office Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the surgical practice along with coordination of hospital based activities. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to provide exceptional customer service will ensure patients receive the best possible care.

Please note that previous experience working in a medical office or similar administrative role is preferred. Having taken the Medical Office Administrator course is an asset as well.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Kentville, NS B4N 1H3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

  • Medical office: 1 year (required)

Work Location: In person
