Responsibilities
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an energetic, collaborative leader to manage the day-to-day operation of the Finance department. You will work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure accurate and timely input, processing, collection and reconciliation of billings, payables, payroll, banking, and reporting. As a finance/accounting expert, you will share your knowledge and guide our finance professionals in all aspects of accounting and financial reporting. As a customer focused professional, you will support the front desk team and ensure residents and visitors receive exceptional service.
Your eye for detail and analytical skills will assist in problem solving. Strong management and organizational skills will assist you in ensuring all financial reporting is accurate and complete. Using your exceptional communication skills, you will effectively communicate with other staff within the finance team, with staff in other Town departments and with residents of the Town to provide excellent customer service.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Education
- A degree from a recognized post-secondary institute is required.
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, including legacy designations) required.
Experience
- Five years of related experience is preferred, no less than three years required. Municipal experience is preferred.
- Experience in personnel management would be considered an asset.
- An acceptable combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, And Qualities
- Good understanding of processes in all areas of the Finance department
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Possess problem solving ability, be self-directed, demonstrate the ability to work to meet deadlines, possess a high level of attention to detail, and have the ability to multi-task.
- Strong diplomatic, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills;
- Thorough knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls;
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy;
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams and Outlook.
- Strong sense of accountability to complete assignments and take ownership of challenges to the point of resolution.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate complex financial concepts in simple terms;
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- This full time position operates out of the Town Hall main office.
- Regular hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours per week).
- Salary: $ 86,679 - $110,319 (Group 6) to commensurate with qualifications and experience.
