The Opportunity Banff Centre is looking for an experienced Lead Hand Security Agent (LHSA). The LHSA assists the Security Services Manager (SSM) with the administration, training and the general operation of the Security Service department and fulfills most of the responsibilities of the SSM during their absence. Specific Accountabilities Reporting to the Security Services Manager, below are some key responsibilities: Assist in the development and maintenance of training programs Maintain the lost and found policy and procedures and the system for monitoring, distributing and the return of property when required Review occurrence reports for completeness and accuracy and distribute to the appropriate recipients for action and/or information Follow-up on outstanding action that must be taken to conclude investigations Act as liaison between the SSM and the Security Officers to ensure quality control on customer service and public safety Keep current with policies and regulations so that ongoing planning may be applied to procedural manuals and that the proper information is communicated to other internal departments Keep current with emergency and operational procedures Act as liaison person between the Health and Safety Officer (HSO) and the SSM on matters related to accident investigation and injury Assist the SSM in dealing with any confidential or sensitive issues with a high level of confidentiality Assist in acting as liaison with emergency services and, in particular with Canadian Park Service Wardens, in reporting and helping to provide a safe environment between the campus population and wild animals Other related duties as may be assigned Qualification and Educational Requirements Minimum 5 years’ of security related experience is required Diploma and/or completion of Alberta Basic Security Training (ABST) and licensing under the Alberta Security Agent and Investigators Act, or proof of enrollment, is required Current certificates for Standard First Aid, CPR/AED Level C, and fire prevention/training programs A valid Alberta driver's license or international equivalent Previous security background or experience in dealing with the public in a service-oriented environment Knowledge of civil/criminal laws with respect to certain property offences, disorderly conduct, trespassing, etc. Advanced working knowledge of MS Office software Physical and mental ability to conduct lengthy patrols of multi-storied buildings and extensive grounds via foot or by vehicle Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills Responds to contentious or highly-sensitive issues with discretion and effectively deals with confidential matters Recognizes and demonstrates the need for initiative in dealing with and resolving problems Special Requirements Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends. Overnight shifts on a monthly rotation are required. Employment Terms & Benefits In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500-hour probationary period. This position pays $25.25 per hour, working up to 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule. Hours worked per week may vary depending on business needs.
