Position Status: Full-Time
Salary: $46,512 per year
Start Date: March 1, 2024
Location: Antigonish or New Glasgow preferred

The Opportunity
With strong language instruction and team management background, this position will work closely with the Language Coordinator to provide two deep leadership in the support and supervision of multiple staff and YMCA language program sites located across the province.
Responsibilities
- Supporting provincial language programs and activities by providing supervisory leadership
- Regular check-ins and site visits of team members
- Efficiently managing the operational functions of program delivery (hours, reporting, data management and budgeting)
- Under the direction of the Language Coordinator, developing and providing language instructional resources (aligned with Canadian Language Benchmarks) updating program resources and developing tools and/or practices
- Supporting, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of PBLA and PENS requirements
- Providing referral and support to clients in accessing and navigating community-based language resources when needed
- Receiving and reviewing monthly reports from Language Instructors - collating and submitting
- Representing YMCA Language Program area internally and externally as required
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Recognized TESL qualification
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience within an English as an additional language setting
- Knowledge of and experience with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA)
- Experience leading a team or project
- Experience with sourcing and developing language materials and EAL curriculum
- Demonstrated networking and rapport building skills
- Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication, problem solving and team building skills
- Experience with computer programs and databases; Microsoft Office Skills (i.e. Excel, Word, Publisher, etc.), presentation documents, data input
- Strong time management, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines and tasks
- High level of initiative is needed to work independently and respond to unanticipated items
- Valid NS Driver's License and reliable vehicle and ability to travel across Nova Scotia
