Job Description
The Ray of Hope Soup Kitchen is looking for a new Head Cook starting January 2, 2024. Working hours are 5 hours per week, Monday to Friday starting at 7:30am. The Ray of Hope Soup Kitchen has served over 1,000,000 meals to the marginalized and disenfranchised of greater Moncton since 1984. We operate with commercial kitchen facilities from the basement of St. Augustine’s church and serve from 65 to 75 lunch meals per day. Duties Working with the Kitchen manager, you will direct a group of dedicated volunteers in preparing meals. Your specific duties are: 1. Planning weekly menus 2. Preparing meals according to meal plan 3. Incorporating unexpected food donations into daily meals 4. Directing, and supervising Kitchen volunteers 5. Managing volunteer list 6. Providing food and kitchen supply needs to the Kitchen Manager 7. Providing proper food storage and rotation 8. Receiving food donations when manager is unavailable 9. Along with the Manager, on-boarding and training of new volunteers 10. Ensure proper facility and equipment clean up 11. Ensuring a safe work environment for volunteers and staff 12. Following and enforcing proper food safety and Kitchen cleanliness practices 13. Assist in other areas of the Kitchen as required 14. Ability to post on our social media sites is an asset Qualifications · Previous experience in a commercial kitchen and supervising kitchen staff · Demonstrated experience working and communicating with internal and external customers in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner. · Kitchen staff must be at least double vaccinated for covid 19 Job Type: Full-time Salary: $19.00 per hour Expected hours: 35 per week Benefits: Casual dress On-site parking Paid time off Flexible Language Requirement: French not required Schedule: Day shift Monday to Friday Application question(s): Do you presently live in the Greater Moncton area or in New Brunswick?
