Geographic Information Systems Analyst

We are currently seeking a GIS Analyst to join our Operations team working remotely to start and then will transition to a flexible work arrangement, working from our office at Young Tower, Halifax, NS. As a member of the team you will be responsible for map production, data processing including migrating data to/from various formats, statistical analysis, as well as maintenance of the current databases.


The successful candidate will be customer focused, have exceptional analytical and communication skills coupled with the skills sets to manage multiple projects effectively within a fast paced, deadline driven environment. GIS Analyst possess a broad base of GIS knowledge which includes hands on experience with a desktop GIS software (Esri’s ArcGIS) and knowledge of GIS data types, GPS collection, relational database management systems (RDBMS), spatial analysis, and cartography. Some basic scripting or programming experience as well as web GIS knowledge is an asset.


Qualifications:

• Post-Secondary Education in Computer Science, Geography, Surveying, Engineering or related field and a post graduate diploma with a focus in GIS, Cartography, Geography or a related field;

• A minimum two years of GIS experience is required;

• Experience working with ESRI GIS software;

• Exposure to project management principals, previous project management experience an asset;

• Ability to anticipate, identify, solve and prevent problems;

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment while taking ownership of individual responsibilities;

• Knowledge of the telecommunications industry an asset;

• Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license.
