Job Description
Manager, Evaluations Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity aims to inspire everyone who attends our campus – artists, leaders, and thinkers – to unleash their creative potential. The OpportunityThe Program Manager, Evaluations is accountable for the development, implementation and analysis of evaluation programs and assessments within the Arts and Leadership programs. This role plays a pivotal part in gathering and interpreting data to inform decision-making, improve programs and processes, and achieve the organization’s strategic goals through data-driven insights and in doing so, contributes to building the profile and reach of our nationally and internationally renowned programs.The Program Manager, Evaluations is responsible for the management of a sustainable evaluations structure, including the development of meaningful questions and compiling both quantitative and qualitative reports that support both program design, planning, and reporting requirements, as to meet Banff Centre objectives. This includes the development, design, and management of: post-program, annual and project-based surveys; a framework to ensure appropriate controls are in place to communicate and ensure the privacy around survey results, the implementation of best practices to ensure the integrity of the data being collected; and the presentation of evaluation data in a meaningful way that advances understanding of Banff Centre’s strengths and opportunities. Roles and ResponsibilitiesReporting to Director, Program Administration and Participant Services, below are some key accountabilities: Works closely with colleagues across Banff Centre in the development, implementation, and delivery of evaluation tools, surveys, assessment instruments, interviews, and program records to collect relevant data for Arts and Leadership programming. Develops and maintains an evaluation workplan to track project progress and timelines.Applies statistical and qualitative analysis techniques to interpret data and identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. Implements and maintains quality assurance processes for evaluation data and reporting.Collaborates with various departments and stakeholders to understand their evaluation needs and objectives. Communicates findings and insights to relevant stakeholders who are making data-driven recommendations or decisions for improvements and to demonstrate Banff Centre’s impact, including clearly defined and measurable outcomes. Develops, creates and delivers surveys and applicable links for data collection, including collection of testimonial data.Attends participant meetings prior to program conclusion, to drive the expectations of professional program review, evaluation and completion in accordance with established procedures.Prepares and presents evaluation reports, including data visualization, to communicate findings and recommendations effectively to leadership and other stakeholders. Ensures that evaluation reports are timely, accurate, and actionable. Collates and provides data for varied organizational reporting and post-program review needs.Collates and provides testimonials to support internal, government, and other reporting, marketing, donor relations, and recruitment requirements.Identifies and operationalizes improvements and enhancements to evaluations process to ensure collection of required and meaningful data, and currency of methodology.Provides data that contributes to strategic planning to support evidence-based decision making. Extracts, interprets, summarizes, and communicates key stakeholder and business needs from evaluation and data outputs.Creates impactful reports and presentations that provide reliable and accurate insights into program activity and participant experience.Ensures that evaluation activities align with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Implements and maintains quality assurance processes for evaluation data and reporting.Ensures a positive and safe work environment for all Banff Centre employees, aligned with Banff Centre’s policies including but not limited to code of ethics, anti-harassment policies, contractual obligations, and strategic directions. Qualifications and Educational RequirementsA University degree in social sciences, fine or performing arts, public administration, or related post-secondary education (psychology, social sciences, education, public administration). A master’s degree is preferred. Credentialed Evaluator designation (CES) is considered an asset.5+ years evaluation experience working with both qualitative and quantitative data analysis and/or social sciences research experience.Experience working in a post-secondary or government environment is preferred.Strong analytical and statistical skills, with proficiency in data analysis software tools.Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex data in a clear and understandable manner.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.Knowledge of relevant industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements.Strong problem-solving and communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders throughout the evaluation process. Apply advanced research methods, emergent and established evaluation practices, and the ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data.Apply demonstrated evaluation theories, approaches, and methodologies, including formative, summative and developmental evaluation, logic models, theory of change, and the development of evaluation frameworks and plans.Possess a comprehensive knowledge of best practices in program evaluation design and implementation.Self-motivated and ability to work independently on projects once parameters with organizational stakeholders have been established.
