Job Brief

Kidz at Heart Learning Centre Inc. is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) to join our team. As an ECE, you will play a vital role in supporting our inclusive and nurturing learning environment. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about early childhood education, committed to diversity, and share our enthusiasm for fostering a positive learning experience for young children. This is a full-time position with a weekly commitment of 40 hours.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two- to four-year college program in early childhood education

or A bachelor's degree in child development is required.

  • Valid AECENL Certification: Applicants should have their Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification from the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Newfoundland and Labrador (AECENL).
  • Up-to-Date Vulnerable Sector Check: Ensuring the safety and security of our children is paramount. Applicants must have a current Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • First Aid Training: All candidates should have up to date First Aid Training certification.

Experience

- Years of experience in Early Childhood Education is not a requirement but an asset.

Tasks included but are not limited to:

- Develop and execute child-care initiatives designed to enhance and facilitate the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth of children.

- Lead engaging and interactive activities, such as storytelling, reading, singing, and excursions to local points of interest, fostering an environment that encourages creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical exercises.

- Strategize and uphold a safe and nurturing environment that prioritizes the health, safety, and overall well-being of children.

- Evaluate and analyze the aptitudes, preferences, and requirements of children, engaging in discussions about progress or challenges with parents and fellow team members.

- Conduct careful observations of children to identify potential indicators of learning or behavioral concerns, compiling comprehensive reports for parents, guardians, or supervisory personnel.

- Provide guidance and support to children as they develop proper eating habits, dressing skills, and toilet routines.

- Foster and cultivate cooperative partnerships with colleagues and community service providers involved in child-focused endeavors.

- Organize and orchestrate activities tailored for school-age children in child-care programs, both before and after standard school hours.

- Oversee and coordinate the activities of other early childhood educators and assistants, ensuring a cohesive and collaborative environment.

Worksite environment - The worksite environment for an ECE includes indoor and outdoor spaces where early childhood education and activities take place. This may encompass classrooms, play areas, outdoor playgrounds, and other designated learning spaces.

Work Conditions and physical capabilities - ECEs work in dynamic and sometimes fast-paced environments where they engage with children, parents, and colleagues. The role requires physical capabilities such as standing, bending, lifting, and kneeling to interact with children at their level and ensure their safety and well-being.

Work setting - ECEs typically work in early childhood education centres, preschools, kindergartens, daycare facilities, and other educational settings focused on young children's development and learning. The work setting involves creating a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating atmosphere for children to explore, learn, and grow.
