Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is looking for a highly motivated person to fulfill a full-time (40h/week) Intern, Onboard and Network Developer position in Montreal, QC from May - August 2024. Job Summary The Intern, Onboard and Network Developer is responsible for collaboration in the life cycle of software engineering, setting up, and delivering solutions for Locomotive onboard, Wayside remote devices and Interoperable Train Control network. The role specializes in delivering solutions to all stakeholders and contributes to design decisions that drive the integration of application and solutions. Major Responsibilities Define and develop applications and services Define, develop Unit Test code aligned with specifications and standards Integrate and configure components of communication services Configure Internet of Things (IoT) devices based on design specification Participate in test planning and execution Establish and plan deployment strategies Define deployment Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Capture and analyse deployment data Troubleshoot issues and help developers in proposing solutions Take part in daily scrum team meetings, sprint planning, and retrospective Create design, build and run documentation Transfer knowledge to support teams Requirements Advance Knowledge of Python, C++ and Java programing language Knowledge with Linux Operating systems configuration and scripting Ability to install, integrate, troubleshoot and demonstrate solution applications Ability do work with cloud environment (e.g., Virtual Machine, Micro services) Advanced knowledge of networking and advance switching concepts Knowledge of monitoring systems leveraging Message Brokers (*MQ) Knowledge of data analysis using Power BI and Grafana Knowledge of Agile Development Operations and concepts related to continuous integration and pipeline management Fluently bilingual both written and verbal (English, French)* Collaborates with others and shares information Solves problems to create value Applies critical thinking Education Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset About CN CN is a world-class transportation leader and trade-enabler.
