Job Description

The Culinary Arts program provides students with relevant, high quality culinary training. The program will introduce students to the fundamental skills of cooking, including contemporary hot and cold presentation, pastry art and international cuisine. The program is currently recruiting for a salaried instructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The successful candidates will: have strong technical knowledge be able to work both independently and within a team environment bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic team Key Responsibilities: Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention Respond to student issues Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT 2021, NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities Other duties as assigned Skills & Abilities: Excellent interpersonal Skills Strong desire to help students succeed Excellent communication skills Strong knowledge of computers Qualifications: Red seal Cook certification or equivalent Grade 12 diploma Minimum 3-years’ experience in a culinary arts food establishment Strong knowledge in pastry and baking is a strong asset Experience in a hotel, resort, high volume restaurant is an asset. Previous teaching experience a strong asset Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).
