Coordinator, Formula Room/Milk Handling Room and BC Metabolic Nutrition ProgramBC Children’s Hospital and BC Women's Hospital & Health CentreVancouver, BCThe Coordinator manages the operation of the Formula/Milk Handling Room and BC Metabolic Nutrition Program. Coordination of the Formula Room and Milk Handling Room involves creating, implementing and managing the standards, policies, procedures and equipment for preparing and distributing human milk and formula feeds. Coordination includes managing the handling, preparation and distribution of expressed milk and infant/enteral products to inpatients at BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital; and, the procurement of infant/enteral Formulary products. Coordination of the BC Metabolic Nutrition Program involves creating and managing the standards, policies and procedures for the procurement and distribution of metabolic formula, medical foods, adjunct nutritional supplements, and supplies. Coordination of both areas involves financial management and reporting, supply chain management, continuous quality improvement, supervision of staff, and collaboration with clinical dietitians, other health care professionals, patient support services, patients and families.What You’ll DoDevelop and revise written policy and procedure for area operations by applying current knowledge of applicable standards and liaising with key stakeholders to identify interdependencies and align or integrate related policies and procedures.Participate in revision of the operational service delivery model as required.Oversee and direct the activities of staff performing duties in the Formula Room, Milk Handling Room and BC Metabolic Nutrition Program (BCMNP).Complete ongoing performance monitoring and evaluation. Responsible for staff orientation, training and scheduling and participates in staff selection.Conduct regular staff meetings and in-services to identify and provide training on changes to policy and procedure.Collaborate with finance to complete period end budget monitoring, and annual budget reconciliation. Complete period end, quarterly, annual and ad hoc budget reports for individual cost centres as required.Collaborate with vendor representatives to troubleshoot problems related to purchasing, billing, and inventory.What You BringGraduation from an academic program in dietetics approved by the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.Three (3) years recent, related clinical experience and recent related experience in business operations; One (1) year supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Full registration in the College of Dietitians of British Columbia, including Restricted Activity A.You Also Have The Ability ToDemonstrate knowledge of standards and regulations including but not limited to: health and food safety standards, food premises regulations, infant formula preparation standards, infection control standards, Canadian Standards Association for Health Care Facilities, Canadian Breastfeeding Council Accreditation Standards for Baby Friendly Accredited Hospitals, privacy and confidentiality standards.Communicate with, and to deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, patients and their families and/or caregivers and vendors.Work as a team member and to deal effectively with patients, customers, families, caregivers, vendors and health professionals.Organize work and prioritize workload and perform duties in a busy workplace setting.Supervise and direct staff.Follow business processes and planning.Operate related equipment including knowledge of computer applications including word processing, spread sheets, web design and data bases.Perform physical duties related to the position.Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Site Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).What We BringEvery PHSA employee enables the best possible patient care for our patients and their families.
