Contract Instructor, Culinary Fundamentals

In order to ensure your application is received by NAIT for thorough review and consideration, please apply directly through our Careers site at www.nait.ca/careersNOTE: We are looking for instructors to teach specifically in & around Calgary, AB.Indigenous Partnerships & Engagement works within the department of Corporate and Continuing Education to bring educational training opportunities to First Nation, Metis, and Inuit Nations throughout Canada.Our Food Safety program is designed to help students gain a competitive edge in the food services industry by combining their culinary and restaurant skills with certification in food preparation and workplace safety. Students enrolled in this course will gain the fundamental concepts, theory, skills, and techniques involved in cooking. They will learn about safety, sanitization, knife skills, and how to function in a professional kitchen. Upon completion, they will be able to describe the nutritional components of food and their value as well as demonstrate the use of culinary terms.The course also teaches the skills and knowledge to prepare, cook, and present a variety of pasta, rice, potato, fruit, and vegetable dishes in addition to covering purchasing, grading, handling, and storage of butcher shop products.Contract Instruction DeliverablesUtilize appropriate tools & equipment to instruct students & provide practical hands-on learning.Maintain professional ethical relationships with students and colleagues; respond professionally to student issues and concerns.Maintain student attendance and other documentation as required.Ability to order consumables and being flexible to changing resources.
