About The Opportunity
Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Surgical Booking Officer is responsible for the efficient and effective scheduling/booking of elective surgical procedures and operating room time as well as the efficient management of hospital beds and services for optimum patient flow. This individual acts as a liaison with various departments including operating rooms, surgeons and their offices, clinics, nursing units, Patient Flow Managers and Emergency Dept. In addition, he/she is responsible for booking patients needing accommodations.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Grade XII or equivalent
- Successful completion of a recognized secretarial/administrative program
- Medical terminology required
- 2 years related experience required
- Minimum typing speed of 50 wpm preferred
- Previous experience with complex surgical bookings preferred
- Proficiency with all components of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
- Proficiency in STAR, PHS, NOVARI
- Knowledge of the surgical inpatient/day programs for the scheduling of the inpatient and outpatient patient population
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills, strong attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task, deal with numerous interruptions
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, work independently
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm during urgent situations
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent Full-Time position; 70 Hours Bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives
$24.69 - $27.53 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
